Think of Bids as Tokens in an Arcade. When you join for free you get $5 in bids which is 5 bid credits. Each time you bid on an item, the price goes up by one penny, 10 seconds is added to the clock, and one bid credit is removed from your account. If you are the last bidder and the time runs out you win. To get more bids you can purchase them or earn 15 free bids for each friend you refer who buys at least one bid pack.
